What is Canuckle, the Canadians’ Wordle game?
The brainchild of Ottawa resident Mark Rogers, Canuckle is a Wordle-based guessing game that challenges players to guess five-letter words that are somehow related to Canada. This cryptic word can be a word, a place, or a simple Canadianism: if it has anything to do with Canada, it says.
Mark Rogers said it perfectly, “Each word at the end will relate to Canada in some way and have some kind of theme that can be associated with Canada.”

Buckle Rules
Since Canuckle is based on the code of the original Wordle game, it borrows many of its rules. Also, solving puzzles will reveal interesting facts about secret words. Like Wordle, players have six chances to guess a five-letter mystery word. The only difference here is that this secret word is associated with Canada in one way or another.
You start by guessing a random word related to Canada, then depending on the color of the tiles, you keep going until you find the secret word.
As a homage to the Canadian flag, the letters in the correct positions are marked in red instead of Wordle’s characteristic green. Letters that belong to a word but are not in the correct position are highlighted in yellow, and letters that do not belong to a word appear in grey.
How to play Canuckle?
Playing Canuckle is very simple. Just launch a web browser on your PC or mobile device and go to the official Cancukle website. When you visit, you will see a window explaining the rules of the game. Click the “cross (X)” in the upper right corner to close it.
Now you can start playing the game. You’ll have six attempts to guess the Canuckle of the day, a mystery word associated with Canada. Just enter a random Canadian guess on the first try, look at the tiles, and keep guessing.
How is Canuckle different from Wordle?
While based on the same game code, there are subtle differences between the two. Wordle draws its everyday mystery words primarily from a randomly ordered list of 2,315 five-letter English words. Canuckle, on the other hand, has a Canadian theme, so he chose a five-letter Canadian word as his daily challenge.
Other differences include the color of the tiles. In Wordle, all correctly guessed letters will be marked in green. However, Canuckle uses red instead of green to indicate correct guesses. The rest of the colors, yellow and gray, remain the same.
Other than that, the two games are pretty much the same, with fairly challenging difficulty levels.
