Portal Nintendo Switch
You have heard it correctly! Valve Software has recently announced that they’ll be releasing two of their classic games on the Nintendo Switch later this year. It is the Nintendo Switch, also known as NX is a gaming console designed by Nintendo which launched globally on March 3, 2017.
Portal, the original Portal launched by the developer Valve in 2007 within The Orange Box, is a collection of games like Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2. Portal 2 was released a couple of years later in the year 2011. Both games will retain the features of their previous games, such as Portal 2’s cooperative gameplay and a completely separate story mode featuring two robots.
The console functions as a tablet that is put in your home, and it can serve as a home console or as a portable device that can be used wherever which makes it a hybrid console. The software for Nintendo Switch supports online gaming via the Internet as well as connects to other consoles via wireless connectivity.
Portal 1 and Portal 2 will be available to players on the Nintendo Switch by the end of the year, as parts of Portal: Companion Collection which is expected to cost about 20 dollars. As was announced during the Nintendo Switch presentation, both Portals will be available in 2022.
Valve developed and published Portal, a puzzle platform game in 2007. Portal has been released as part of the bundle known as The Orange Box for Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. It’s also been ported to different platforms, including Mac OS X, Linux, and Android through Nvidia Shield as well as Nintendo Switch.
A Portal is a series of challenges that have to be solved through the transport of the player’s character along with basic objects with “the Aperture Science Handheld Device,” an instrument capable of establishing connections to two portals.
Chell is the principal character is in a race against GLaDOS (Genetic Lifeform, and Disk Operating System) Artificial Intelligence which is required to complete every puzzle by completing all tasks. Then, he gets an offer of cake when each puzzle is completed.
While it was criticized for its short duration and lack of story, Portal was loved by many players and was considered one of the most original titles of 2007. It was highly praised for its gameplay, its originality, and funny dialogue that told an eerie story.
Nintendo Switch
As previously mentioned, Portal Companion Collection will bring Portal along with Portal 2 to the Nintendo Switch console for the first time.
Fans have been responding to the announcement on the r/Nintendo subreddit with many of them excited to see the gameplay on consoles for the first time in the 10 years since the release of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
One person posted: “I keep a list of games I would like to play, however, they haven’t been officially announced as of yet. These are classified by probabilities and are divided into four groups: Inevitable likely, unlikely, and Snowball’s Chance in Hell.
This was the first time I’ve been able to remove a game from the Snowball’s Chance in Hell list.”
Another player would talk about the reasons why it’s a good moment for the game to arrive on Nintendo Switch, with Steam Deck scheduled to make its debut in the near future.
“I suppose anyone that reserved the Deck early enough to get one this year probably owns Portal already, so anyone buying Portal for a handheld gaming experience will buy it on Switch.”
Portal was considered in the eyes of many people as a possible USP in this Stream Deck console, so it’s a fascinating option for gamers who would like to play classic games with a portable console, before the release of the Deck.
